We are thrilled to be bringing midwife Heidi Meyer Vallentin for an in-person workshop near Washington DC!
This one-day immersive workshop introduces doulas and birth professionals to the Meyer Method: a neuroscience-based, trauma-informed approach to supporting labor through touch, breath, language, and nervous system regulation.
What you will learn:
- Pain & perception: Understand the bio-psycho-social model of pain, gate control theory, and the role of attention and intention in shaping the birth experience.
- Reset the nervous system in birth: Explore the polyvagal lens – neuroception, safety, and how self- and co-regulation affect labor flow and coping capacity.
- MeyerMind: Learn how focus, can relieve pain, anchor calm and create a sense of control and flow.
- MeyerTouch (Meyertryk™): Practice the six core principles of this rhythmic double-pressure technique that grounds the body, diverts attention from pain, and strengthens connection.
- Breath as regulation: Introduction to the Meyer Focus Breathing model – integrating rhythm, concentration, and relaxation to modulate pain and foster birth flow.
- The Birth Triangle & Partner Agreement: Practical tools for collaboration between birthing person, partner, and professional – strengthening trust, presence,
and autonomy.
